UI concept for hotel booking website with seamless multi-step booking process.

Hotel.id is a streamlined hotel booking platform concept focused on reducing decision fatigue in the travel planning process. Unlike aggregator sites that bombard users with thousands of unfiltered options and flashing 'urgency' banners, Hotel.id utilizes a minimalist, trust-first interface that curates properties based on 'Trip Intent' (Business, Staycation, Family). The booking flow is radically simplified into a 3-step 'Linear Path', eliminating the clutter of upsells and confused pricing structures.\n\nI designed the platform using Figma, creating a high-fidelity prototype that demonstrates how 'less is more' in e-commerce. The project features a comparative card system that highlights key differences between room types (not just price), a smart filter engine that allows natural language sorting (e.g., 'Quiet rooms with good WiFi'), and a transparent checkout that displays the full price (including taxes) upfront. This case study addresses the common user frustration of 'Deal Anxiety'—the fear that they are missing a better price or hidden details.

Stripping away the 'dark patterns' common in travel tech (e.g., hidden fees, fake scarcity) while still creating a persuasive and conversion-optimized user flow.
Hotel booking sites are notorious for 'Dark Patterns'—fake countdown timers, hidden service fees, and overwhelming pop-ups. This creates a stressful experience where users feel pressured rather than excited about their trip.
Endless scrolling lists with inconsistent photos and amenities make choosing a hotel exhausting.
Users often don't see the 'real' price (with taxes and fees) until the final click.
Aggressive 'Only 1 room left!' banners create skepticism rather than genuine urgency.
Complex filtering and comparison tools are rarely optimized for thumb-driven mobile interaction.
Hotel.id restores the joy of travel planning. I designed a 'Calm Booking' interface where transparency is the default, and the UI guides the user through decisions one step at a time.
Filters like 'For Family' or 'Remote Work' automatically adjust the ranking algorithm.
All prices displayed include taxes and fees from the start—no nasty surprises.
A 'Compare' tray that lets users stack up to 3 hotels side-by-side to see amenity differences.
A distractions-free payment flow that focuses solely on securing the room securely.
Analyzed major booking sites (Agoda, Traveloka, Booking.com) to identify common stress points and dark patterns.
Redesigned the standard 7-step booking process into a clean 3-step 'Search -> Select -> Secure' journey.
Established a 'Trust' color palette (blues, whites, soft greys) and clear typography to maximize readability.
Adapting the complex comparison tables into swipable cards for a seamless mobile experience.
