Community reporting platform UI built in collaboration with Bandung city government.

Gobojongsoang.id is a civic engagement platform designed in collaboration with the Bandung city government to bridge the communication gap between citizens and local officials. As the Lead UI/UX Designer, I was tasked with creating a system that makes reporting infrastructure issues (like potholes, floods, or waste accumulation) as easy as posting on social media, while ensuring the data is structured correctly for government backend systems.\n\nThe project focused on accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that citizens of all ages and technological proficiency levels could successfully submit reports. I developed a step-by-step reporting wizard using Figma, which breaks down the complex reporting process into simple, bite-sized questions with guided visual cues. The design also includes a transparent tracking dashboard, allowing citizens to see the real-time status of their complaints—from 'Received' to 'In Progress' to 'Resolved'. This transparency was critical for rebuilding trust between the community and the public works department.

The biggest challenge was balancing simplicity for the user with the rigidity of government data requirements. We had to design a UI that felt friendly and fast, while still collecting precise geolocation, categorization, and documentation needed by city engineers.
Bandung citizens had no reliable channel to report local issues. Manual phone calls were often ignored, and social media complaints lacked the structured data (precise location, category) needed for officials to act.
Reports were scattered across WhatsApp, Instagram, and phone logs, leading to lost data.
Citizens rarely knew if their report was seen or acted upon, leading to apathy.
Incoming reports often lacked photos or addresses, requiring expensive manual follow-up.
Existing forms were complex and difficult for elderly or less tech-savvy citizens to use.
Gobojongsoang.id serves as a unified digital town square. I designed a 'Report Wizard' that guides users to pinpoint locations on a map, upload photos, and select categories, turning subjective complaints into actionable work orders.
A friendly, stepped interface that ensures 100% of reports have location and photo evidence.
A 'Domino's Pizza Tracker' style interface for public works, showing exactly where a report is in the queue.
An interactive map allowing citizens to see widespread issues and upvote existing reports to avoid duplicates.
Large, high-contrast text and clear icons to ensure usability for all demographic groups.
Held sessions with village heads and city officials to map out the exact lifecycle of a complaint, from submission to resolution.
Designed the '3-Step Report' flow (Photo -> Location -> Detail) to minimize friction and prevent drop-offs.
Created a high-contrast UI kit with large touch targets, ensuring the app was usable by older residents on low-end devices.
Tested the reporting flow with a diverse group of citizens to identify confusion points and refine copy.
